Mayor From Cranston's Sister City In Italy To Visit Monday

Sister-City Mayor Antonio Fargiorgio of Itri, Italy, will be in Cranston on Monday with Mayor Allan Fung.

CRANSTON, RI—Cranston has a sister city in Italy. Its mayor, Antonio Fargiorgio of Itri, will stop by Cranston City Hall on Monday to visit his U.S. counterpart, Mayor Allan Fung's office said Friday.

Itri and Cranston have been sister cities only since 2000, but the ties go way back, Fung's office said. Many Italian immigrants who moved into Knightsville originally came from Itri.

The two mayors will meet at City Hall at 10:30 a.m. Mayor Fung with give Mayor Fargiorgio a Key to the City and issue a special proclamation. The ceremony, in council chambers on the third floor, 869 Park Ave., Cranston 02920, is open to the public.
