Two Separate Investigations Lead To Cranston Child Porn Charges

The U.S. Attorney's Office said the two cases are not connected.

CRANSTON, RI—Two Cranston men sent sexually explicit pictures over the Internet to youngsters outside Rhode Island and tried to persuade the minors to engage in sex, the U.S. Attorney's Office says. The men have appeared in Providence federal court where they faced separate child pornography and enticement complaints.

The cases are not related, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.

Raymond Gliottone, 35, was arrested Friday in his basement apartment. He is charged with "attempted enticement of a minor to engage in prohibited sexual activity and access with intent to view child pornography," the U.S. Attorney's Office said. The alleged victim is a 15-year old Maine girl.

"The communications allegedly included sexually explicit conversations, images of his genitalia, and encouraging the minor to run away with him," the office said. Homeland Security Investigations, the Rhode Island State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and Cranston Police investigated. Gliottone was in Providence federal court Monday to face the charges and is being held.

On Tuesday, FBI agents, the Rhode Island State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and Cranston and Warwick police arrested Paul Stabile Jr., 38, and raided his basement apartment. He is being charged with transfer of obscene material to a minor under the age of 16, and possession and access with intent to view child pornography. He's accused of using the name “Cindy Mennillo” and pretending to be a young woman while he had sexually explicit conversations over the Internet with a 14-year-old Nevada boy. He's also accused of sending explicit photos.
