College Grad Announcements Continue

Residents of East Greenwich who have earned college degrees.


East Greenwich resident Monika Szrek graduated from Bard College on May 26, during the College’s 152nd commencement. Szrek was awarded a bachelor’s degree.

Marc Capuano who was awarded a bachelor’s degree during Providence College commencement ceremonies held on May 20, was recently honored for his academic achievements. Capuano graduated summa cum laude and received the Lida B. Aronne-Amestoy Award for academic achievement, intellectually curiosity, and spirit of collaboration in Spanish. He also earned the highest academic record in health policy and management. He served as president of the College’s Board of Programmers and was a resident assistant for 2 years.

Franklin McCaffrey received a degree in Interior Design during Mount Ida College's 113th Commencement held on May 18. Mount Ida College conferred 223 bachelor's degrees and 63 associate degrees to undergraduates at the spring commencement ceremony with special guest and commencement speaker U.S. Senator John Kerry.

The following local students graduted from the University of Hartford on Saturday, May 19, and Sunday, May 20: Matthew Wilson graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in history and Lauren DeLisi graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in communication.

A record number of graduates – 2,900 – were presented with diplomas at UMass Lowell’s 2012 Commencement exercises on Saturday, May 26, at the Tsongas Center at UMass Lowell, including Corey M. Smith.

Fairfield University, a Jesuit university founded in 1942 in Fairfield, Conn., awarded 1,328 degrees at its 62nd Commencement on Sunday, May 20, during two ceremonies on Bellarmine Hall Lawn, one in the morning for undergraduates, and one in the afternoon for those receiving graduate and doctorate degrees. The following area residents received degrees: Bianca De Angelo, a resident of Warwick, received a Bachelor of Science degree from Fairfield University's College of Arts and Sciences and Megan Solomon, a resident of East Greenwich, received a Bachelor of Science degree from Fairfield University's Charles F. Dolan School of Business.

The following hometown residents were named to the Dean's List during the spring 2012 semester at Salve Regina University: Nicole Palumbo and Kristen Pfeiffer. Pfeiffer graduated in May.

Elizabeth Caron has graduated from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisc. Caron earned a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations. Caron was one of nearly 2,000 undergraduate and graduate students who received their diplomas May 20 at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee.

Eckerd College is pleased to announce the graduation of Greta Hunziker of East Greenwich, RI. One of 540 Eckerd College graduates, Greta received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and International Relations/Global Affairs with Honors during commencement ceremonies in St. Petersburg, Florida, on Sunday, May 20. Dr. Sylvia Earle, National Geographic Explorer-in-Residence, oceanographer and author, was the keynote speaker. Click here for a recap of Eckerd College's 2012 Commencement

The following local residents recently graduated from Stonehill College. Melissa Lynn Marciano earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree. Susan Mary O'Connell earned a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Madeleine Grace graduated from St. Olaf College. She is a History and Medieval Studies major. In addition, she was awarded membership in Eta Sigma Phi. Grace is the daughter of James and Peg Grace.

Molly Burman graduated with honors from Clark University this spring, in Theater and Studio Art. She also was named to the Dean’s List at Clark.

Cornell University is pleased to announce Mary Sun graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Bio, Health, & Society with the Class of 2012 during Commencement ceremonies in Ithaca, N.Y., on May 27.

The following local students graduated from Villanova University during a spring commencement ceremony, held on Sunday, May 20: Thomas Laferriere earned a Bachelor of Arts and Michael Morris earned a Bachelor of Arts.
