The sale comes after the EGHPS became overwhelmed with the cost of keeping up the building, which has been in the society's possession since 1976. The decision to sell the property was made last fall so the society can continue to focus on providing programs and educational opportunities.

Although the future of the Jailkeeper's house has not year been decided, several potential options include continuing to use the space as an office building or turning it into a boutique hotel.
