SOUTH KINGSTOWN, RI — Three Rhode Island beaches have closed for swimming because of high bacteria counts in the water.

The Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) recommended Thursday the closure of the swimming area at Kent County YMCA in Warwick, Kingston’s Camp, and Camp Hoffman in South Kingstown due to high bacteria levels.

RIDOH officials said they will continue to monitor and review beach water quality regularly to ensure safe bathing throughout summer.
