NARRAGANSETT, RI — Eight people were arrested following an incident at Narragansett Town Beach Sunday afternoon, according to police.

Officers were called to the beach around 2:15 p.m., where 400 to 500 people were gathered near the cabana, Lt. Kevin Bousquet told Patch.

The four officers arrested 19-year-old Cranston resident Domenic Deluca in connection with what was believed to have been a football game that "got out of hand," Bousquet said. Deluca was charged with disorderly conduct.

Following Deluca's arrest, the crowd "became hostile" to the officers, Bousquet said, leading police to call for assistance from Rhode Island State Police, Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management officers, North Kingstown police and South Kingstown police. Seven other people were charged: four adults and three minors. The adults are identified below, along with their charges.

  • Avery Defusco, 20, of Johnston: failure to disperse
  • Samuel Richardson, 18, of Old Lyme, Connecticut: failure to disperse
  • Aiden Bordeleau, 19, of Cranston: failure to disperse
  • Evan Rinaldi, 20, of Cranston: failure to disperse and possession of alcohol by a minor

The minors, unidentified because of their age, were all 17 and were from Johnston, Providence and North Kingstown, Bousquet said.
