Amid Thunderstorms, Charlestown Rescue Helps Stranded Boat

A family was brought back to shore safely after their boat lost power.

CHARLESTOWN, RI — Amid thunderstorms Monday afternoon, Charlestown Rescue crews were able to help a family stranded in a boat return to shore safely. At the same time, fire crews were called to a structure fire on Klondike Road.

Both incidents happened just before 5:30 p.m. Crews were called to Marine 6, where a family was stranded in their boat, which had lost power, near Grassy Point. The family was brought back to shore safely.

At the same time, rescue crews were called to assist at the fire in Klondike Road along with the Dunn's Corners Fire Department. Crews were able to quickly extinguish the blaze, and one person was evaluated at the scene but refused further treatment.
