Charlestown Man Indicted On Murder Charge In Stabbing Death Of Woman

CHARLESTOWN, RI — A man accused of stabbing a Charlestown woman to death was indicted by a Rhode Island Grand Jury, Attorney General Peter Neronha's office said Wednesday.

Alex Rolin, 26, of Charlestown, was charged with murder and possession of a knife while committing a crime of violence, at his indictment on Feb. 24.

Prosecutors said the stabbing happened on Sept. 19, 2022. Around 10 a.m., Charlestown police received a 911 call about a disturbance at the Biscuit City Road home.

Emergency officials found Grya Pihlkrantz, 45, with a stab wound to the chest. She was taken to South County Hospital in South Kingstown, where she was pronounced dead.

Rhode Island State Police said they were then called to the scene and had their detective bureau respond. Following their investigation, Rolin was arrested.

Rolin is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday, in Washington County Superior Court.
