MA Man Killed In I-95 Crash In Rhode Island

A man from Cambridge, Massachusetts died in a New Year's Eve crash on Interstate 95 in Rhode Island, State Police said.

RICHMOND, RI — A Massachusetts man died in a crash on Interstate 95 in Richmond on New Year's Eve, Rhode Island State Police said.

State Police said the crash happened around 11:47 a.m. on I-95 northbound, just south of Kingstown Road.

Witnesses told State Police the vehicle was driving erratically and left the left side of the roadway, striking the barrier. The vehicle then veered to the right, crossing all lanes and went off the right side of the highway, and then struck the guard rail, which caused the vehicle to roll over.

The driver was taken to Kent County Hospital in Warwick, where he died as a result of his injuries, State Police said.

State Police identified the driver as Eric S. Qualey, 43, of Cambridge, Massachusetts.
