Man Hit, Killed While Walking In Narragansett

The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, police said.

NARRAGANSETT, RI — A man was hit and killed while walking on Kingstown Road Sunday evening, Narragansett police said. The victim was identified as William Hird Jr., 65.

The crash happened just after 5:30 p.m. west of the intersection of Kingstown Road and Boon Street. Hird was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, police said.

Neither drugs nor alcohol were a factor in the crash.
