Narragansett Police K-9 Catches 3 Juveniles Who Stole Car

NARRAGANSETT, RI — A Narragansett police K-9 helped lead to the arrest of three juveniles police said stole a car.

Police said the incident happened around 1 a.m. on South Pier Road in Narragansett. A patrol officer spotted the vehicle, but the driver refused to stop. The chase continued onto Ocean Road and ended at a dead end on Baltimore Avenue, but then the three juveniles ran into the woods to hide.

Police set up a perimeter and brought in Rhode Island State Police and Narragansett police K-9 Astor to help find the suspects. Astor quickly located the juveniles hiding in the thick brush, police said.

"This was a well coordinated effort by all officers involved, bringing a dangerous situation to an end without any damage or injury," Narragansett police said in a statement.

Because the suspects were juveniles, their names will not be released.
