RI Man Faces Murder Indictment In Death Of Roommate

Prosecutors said Ramsundar Ramkalwan, 60, killed his roommate, Donna MacDonald, 65, by striking her with a rock several times in July 2022.

EXETER, RI — An Exeter man last week was indicted by a Rhode Island grand jury, charging him with first-degree murder in the death of his roommate Donna MacDonald, 65.

Ramsundar Ramkalawan, 60, was indicted on Jan. 13, a spokesperson from Attorney General Peter Neronha's office said Friday. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Jan. 27, in Washington Superior Court.

Prosecutors said the killing happened on July 18, 2022, at an apartment in the 500th block of South County Trail in Exeter. Emergency officials arrived and found MacDonald dead. Rhode Island State Police deemed her death suspicious.

Prosecutors said Ramkalawan admitted to arguing with MacDonald before striking her with a rock several times. Both Ramkalawan and MacDonald have the same address, but authorities haven't said there was a relationship between them.
