Solar Panels in South Kingstown

A new initiative to help South Kingstown become more reliant on solar power.

This program to help lower the cost of solar panels called Solerize South Kingstown and encourage local residents and businesses to use them was a partnership between the Office of Energy Resources, Commerce RI,and a non-profit marketing firm SmartPower.

The idea behind the initiative is through the power of group buying and a community outreach program to lower the cost of the panels.

“South Kingstown is pleased to be selected as a participant community in Solarize Rhode Island. This innovative program will provide our residents and business owners with opportunities to reduce their utility costs, promote renewable energy resources, and reduce our community’s carbon footprint. This program brings our residents and businesses into the Town’s ongoing work toward energy efficiency, conservation and sustainability for municipal facilities, making this a true community-wide effort.” said Town manager Stephen A. Alfred in a press release on the new program.
