Richmond Woman Arrested On 3rd DUI

Police said the suspect was behind the wheel of a car with "damage consistent with driving on a rim."

RICHMOND, RI β€”A Richmond woman has been arrested on a felony DUI charge.

On Sunday, August 8, at around 2:30 p.m., two Richmond police sergeants arrested Michelle L. Lebeau, 54 on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, third offense. She was also cited for refusal to submit to a chemical test.

A DUI is considered a third offense in Rhode Island if the driver has two prior DUI convictions within the last five years. Those convicted can see prison time.

According to a news release from Richmond Police Chief Elwood M. Johnson, Jr., police found Lebeau pulled off to the side of Kingston Road "with vehicle damage consistent with driving on a rim." Her arrest was based upon officer observations and her performance on a set of field sobriety tests. She was transported to the Richmond police station where she was processed, arraigned, and released with a future court date.
