La Vergne Lures Discount Shoe Retailer Across the County Line

Ebuys Inc., which has a facility in Antioch, plans to open a 601,000 square-foot distribution warehouse near the Waldron Road intersection.

LA VERGNE, TN — An online shoe retailer plans to bring 180 jobs to La Vergne from Antioch and add another 160 for good measure.

Ebuys Inc., which operates the ShoeMetro and ApparelSave brands, will invest $30 million in a 601,000 square-foot regional distribution center in the CenterPointe Distribution Park off the Waldron Road interchange.

The company will relocate 180 workers from its existing facility in Antioch and hire another 160. The jobs are average-paying by Rutherford County standards. The average worker at the facility will make $27,000 annually plus benefits.

“Our central location offers businesses tremendous access to markets all over the U.S. and our skilled, well-trained workforce is always up to task to help businesses meet the changing needs of consumers,” Gov. Bill Haslam said.

The Rutherford County Industrial Development Board approved a five-year abatement on real property at 50 percent and a five-year abatement on personal property at 100 percent. The total incentive package is valued at $1.371 million.

The project should open in early 2017.
