Austin-Based Favor Encourages Tipping Food Deliverers Wednesday For Nascent 'National Delivery Day'

Delivery service will give back same amount to customers in form of delivery credit for future use in Austin, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio.

AUSTIN, TX — It's always good form to tip the food delivery guy or gal, particularly when it's raining outside and one has meals delivered to avoid negotiating the slippery streets in search of sustenance.

Wednesday (April 26) is National Delivery Day, yielding an especially opportune time to tip one's runner well. As an added incentive, Austin-based Favor will give the same amount back to the customer in delivery credit for future use for the rest of April, company officials said.

The initiative will be undertaken at all the markets Favor serves in addition to Austin, including Dallas, Houston and San Antonio.

Favor CEO and President Jag Bath thanked the company's team of runners in announcing the initiative.

"I wanted to take a moment to thank you for consistently going above and beyond the call-of-delivery as a Runner," he wrote in a prepared statement. "To show our appreciation, we have created a way to show Runners some extra love called National Delivery Day."

National Delivery Day is a nascent movement, and the term yields no results on Google. But Bath assured it's a thing, and the company is leading efforts to make it a thing.

"Take note, this is not a made-up holiday," Bath assures. "Favor actually led the creation of this day, and put in a formal application to make it official!"

But who needs the coaxing of a national day of observance to be generous? Why wait for an official designation to express appreciation? Why not open one's wallet—and heart—to express gratitude to these pedaling unsung heroes?

The CEO expressed hopes the effort will make the delivery day a bit more gratifying for the runners: "We hope this will make tomorrow a great day to run," Bath wrote.

The CEO ended the missive by congratulating the team of runners, pedaling their way to the hearts (and stomachs) of the customers they serve.

"On a personal note, I want to thank you for bringing good vibes to the Favor community every time you run," Bath wrote. "From the many customer requests you handle with ease, to the memes and fun you bring to every text, I’m proud of the personal touch people have come to associate with Favor. You’re always going the extra mile, and we would be nowhere fast without you."

For the uninitiated, the Favor app can be downloaded to unlock the many food options among hundreds of available cuisines sure to satisfy every palate. "Whether you’re looking for finger-licking barbecue or your favorite local taco truck, we can deliver," Favor officials promise. "In no time, your Runner will arrive at your door, wearing a Favor blue tux and a Texas-sized smile."

Bear in mind that this past Saturday on Earth Day, Favor runners teamed up to help clean Texas parks and highways. Gee, y'all. That alone deserves a tip, wouldn't you say?
