Austin Coffee Shops Launch Fundraiser To Help Immigrants

This weekend, $1 from every drink sold at all 6 Austin and Dallas Houndstooth locations — including East Austin site — will benefit cause.

EAST AUSTIN, TX — A local coffee shop chain this weekend will donate proceeds from each cup of coffee sold to benefit an organization that helps detained migrants with resources.

Dubbed Coffee For Families: A Nationwide Fundraiser For Asylum Seeker Advocacy Project (ASAP), the drive by Houndstooth Coffee is in response to the Trump Administration's "zero tolerance" policy toward undocumented immigrants, which is marked by the separation of children from their migrant parents.

In the fundraiser organized by Sprudge, all six Houndstook coffee shops across Austin and Dallas will donate $1 from every drink sold to ASAP. Houndstooth will also be collecting additional donations made by guests in the shops. Houndstooth will be matching the grand total raised as part of this campaign up to $5,000, for a goal of donating $10,000 overall, organizers said.
