British Airways To Launch Nonstop Service To, From Austin On 747 Aircraft

Service to and from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and London Heathrow set to launch on 'jumbo jets' on April 8, 2018.

AUSTIN, TX — Starting next year, British Airways will offer nonstop service between Austin and London on 747 aircraft, airport officials said Monday.

The service launching April 8, 2018, will link Austin-Bergstrom International Airport with London Heathrow. Nonstop flights will be offered on 747 aircraft, officials said. The imminent service marks the first regularly scheduled commercial passenger service on 747s at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, officials noted.

The Boeing 747 is an American wide-body commercial jet airliner and cargo aircraft. The aircraft is often referred to as a "Jumbo Jet"

While still seven months off, flights are available for booking at www.ba.com. Flights depart Austin at 6:40 p.m. and arrive at London Heathrow at 10 a.m. Flights depart Heathrow at noon and arrive in Austin at 4:16 p.m.The British Airways upgrade to 747 aircraft increases first class service by six seats, business class by 10 seats and 116 more economy seats.

British Airways began flying daily between Austin-Bergstrom International and London Heathrow in March 2014, providing local businesses and families the first non-stop scheduled service to Europe.
