ICYMI: Lauryn Hill To Headline FFF Fest After D'Angelo Cancels

The popular East Austin festival is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a diverse set of performers.

The popular East Austin music festival is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a diverse set of performers and R&B singer Lauryn Hill as the headliner.

Popular R&B vocalist D’Angelo, who was originally slated to headline the festival, dropped out towards the the end of October. Hill was almost immediately asked to replace him.

According to Austin360, D’Angelo cancelled an Austin City Limits performance about a week before cancelling his appearance at FFF Fest. While Hill is known for having a somewhat erratic performance history as well, organizers are confident that she will make a great replacement.

“At the end of the day, no booking is guaranteed and no artist is immune to sickness or circumstances that require them to cancel a tour or show,” FFF Fest founding partner James Moody told the paper. “This is a part of the festival business, and we have always been able to turn lemons into lemonade for our fans,” Moody said.

The festival boasts a diverse musical lineup. From Thursday to Friday, festival-goers can look forward to popular names like the Cramer, Toro Y Moi, Rae Sremmurd, Lucas Bros and the Wu-Tang Clan. Lauryn Hill will make her highly-anticipated appearance on Sunday, along with disco-themed band MSTRKRFT, The Growlers and Afrika Bambaataa. Twerking Lessons with Big Freedia is also on the last day’s lineup.
