New East Austin Brew 'ImPeach' Probably Won't Be A Hit With Trump Supporters

With label of peach tree branches formed like Trump's famous hairdo, Friends and Allies brewery reference not exactly thinly veiled.

EAST AUSTIN, TX — An East Austin brewery has debuted a refreshing concoction offering relief from the heat while making a political statement. It's called "ImPeach."

"It's an amazing 6.5 percent saison brewed with Texas peaches and a big dose of innuendo," its makers at Friends & Allies wrote in a recent Facebook post. The object of the inference is made clearer on the label—a peach with leaves shaped like the First Follicles.

It's a hairy reference to Donald Trump.

Austinites have taken the announcement in good humor, seemingly more interested in the potential of the drink to offer relief from the sweltering Texas heat than for its potential to beget an presidential ouster. At last check, the social media announcement has garnered 415 likes and 45 shares.

But some have found the thinly veiled political reference delicious: "Mmmmm innuendo," Taylor Cowan wrote. "That's my favorite ingredient."

But not everyone was amused: "How about sticking to making delicious beer and stay out of politics and risking pissing off some portion of your customers?" Matthew Murphy ranted. "Does everything have to get dragged into partisan eye gouging?"

Ike Stephens stepped in for a reality check: "It's a joke, a play on words. Laugh at it and move on."

According to the brewery website, industry veterans Devon Ponds and Ben Sabin founded Friends and Allies in 2015. The company's main facility is located at 979 Springdale Rd. For more information, click here.

Talk of impeachment has grown amid growing evidence of collusion with Russia by Trump's camp in the run-up to the presidential election. To an agency, the intelligence community agrees there was Russian influence in last year's general election designed to help Trump ascend to the presidency—a charge the president has consistently denied.
