NLand Surf Park Operators In Del Valle Extending Hours, Opening On Thanksgiving

Attendance has been brisk to the point where 10,000th wave was produced on Tuesday, officials said in announcing expanded hours.

AUSTIN, TX -- Officials at NLand, the giant surf park in Del Valle, will extend their hours beginning this weekend through November after brisk attendance since its recent opening.

On Tuesday, officials announced their surfers were treated to the 1o,000th wave at the surf park to the cheers of attendees at the lagoon. They offered more good news: Beginning this Saturday, Oct. 29, NLand operators will add sessions at 8 a.m., 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. through the end of November.

The park also will open on Thanksgiving "...so you can begin a new family tradition," NLand owners said.

The news is a far cry from July, when the Travis County Commissioners Court sued the business for its perceived non-compliance in the way pools operate. In turn, NLand sued the commissioners' court, arguing their aquatic, wave-making lagoon that mimics waves is not ordinary pool and, as such, isn't subject to certain conditions and restrictions.

An agreement was subsequently approved to allow the park to open while the two parties hash out their differences.
