Fire Destroys Houston's Savoy Manor Apartment Complex

No injuries were reported, but some residents have been forced to look for new homes.

HOUSTON, TX — A fire that raged early on Thursday morning destroyed about 12 apartments and forced residents from their homes at the Savor Manor complex, which is located in the 5900 block of Flintlock.

Authorities said that no injuries were reported, but several people are now looking for new homes after their apartments were engulfed in flames.

"I started to panic," Anquienette Kerr told KHOU. "I just sat here and watched my apartment go into flames. I lost everything." She and her fiancé and two children escaped the conflagration, but all of their possessions were lost.

"I'm glad my family is safe and sound... materialistic things can be replaced; it's just hard when you lose everything and have to start from the beginning," Kerr said.

Investigators ruled out arson, but the cause of the Savoy Manor fire was still unknown on Thursday afternoon.
