Lower Westheimer Among ‘Hottest’ Neighborhoods In The U.S.

HotSpot Rentals rated Lower Westheimer the most desirable neighborhoods in the country based on criteria like transit and walkability

HOUSTON, TX — Real estate rental site HotSpot Rentals recently published the 25 “hottest” neighborhoods in the U.S., naming usual suspects such as San Francisco’s Mission District and Brooklyn’s Bushwick as the most desirable districts in the country. Houston's Lower Westheimer checked in at No. 17, and two Austin neighborhoods are the only other Texas locales to make the list.

The list was compiled after the site did a study measuring each neighborhood based on six factors: walkability, transit, budget, entertainment, lifestyle and weather. Scores for each neighborhood were then calculated out of a 100. Lower Westheimer had an overall score of 75.

  • Transit — 65
  • Budget — 71
  • Entertainment — 66
  • Lifestyle — 62
  • Weather — 79

“Put simply, we used data to determine street cred,” the Chicago-based company said on its website.

San Francisco nabbed two of the top three spots, with the Mission District coming in at No. 1 and Jackson Square at No. 3.

Bushwick, Brooklyn, came in at No. 2, and fellow Brooklyn neighborhood Sunset Park came it at No. 5.

Central East Austin ranked No. 10 with a score of 79, and the Holly neighborhood in Austin ranked No. 12 with a 78 score.
