Here are the top three stories in Odessa-Midland today:

  1. Midland Texas will be hosting a hip-hop icon in October as Ludacris will be coming to town for a performance. Ludacris will be performing at the La Hacienda Event Center on Oct. 13 at 8 p.m. Tickets are available now starting at $45 and you can purchase them online as well as find more information on the concert. (Odessa American)
  2. Odessa police arrested David Amado Gonzales last week after a child passed her bus driver a note requesting help at home. Last Tuesday a school bus driver received a note from a child with an address written down. Officers went to the home, where two individuals sitting on the front porch instantly ran inside. After several minutes, the door finally was opened and the woman told officers that Gonzales came home intoxicated and had physically abused her. Gonzales was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a weapon as well as a parole violation. He is being held at Ector County Law Enforcement Center. (The Independent)
  3. Midland residents and city officials alike are taking animal abuse and cruelty seriously as more counts continue to occur in Midland County. The community is reacting currently to Gunter who was found just two miles off of I-20 abandoned with his mouth and legs taped together. Upon his rescue, Gunter opened up to his new foster parents and it is crucial for animals to be taken care of and treated properly. A yard sale will be happening this coming Saturday and all proceeds will go toward the PBAA to support Gunter and other dogs like him. (KOSA)
