The school was put under a "shelter in place" order on Thursday.

Dallas police arrested Andre Dwayne Williams, 30, Thursday after a threat was made against the Texas School for the Deaf.

The school was put under a “shelter in place” order from 2:15 - 2:50 p.m. after police began a terroristic threat investigation. Students were dismissed from classes at 3:15 p.m., which is the usual dismissal time. Williams was arrested at about 9:40 p.m. on a third degree felony terroristic threat warrant issued by the Austin Police Department.

TSD, located at 1102 South Congress Avenue, is the oldest public school in Texas that has remained continuously in operation. It’s a primary and secondary school that serves more than 400 students who are deaf or hard of hearing, including those with additional disabilities.
