John Kalish, Neighbor

I have moved to and from L.A. County five separate times, but this is my first time living in West Hollywood. What was once just a thoroughfare between Hollywood and Beverly Hills, West Hollywood has earned a unique place in the history of the entertainment business, the place where seminal events in American culture had been staged and where legendary comedians got their start...where most of this has happened, is not just on the world famous, Sunset Blvd, but on its most celebrated stretch in West Hollywood called Sunset Strip.

Even in all its singularity, long term residents have been known to lose their bearings from time to time...as to whether or not they actually are in West Hollywood...due to a city grid made up of zig zagging borders, that separate Weho from its neighboring towns of Beverly Hills, Hollywood and the City of Los Angeles. All in all a stellar town...give or take a block or two that may be in some other town. The occasional identity crisis keeps us humble.

I have been a writer and producer at CNN, Good Morning America and Entertainment Tonight. This is my second stint as a Mayor, the first time, I was in 5th Grade and was elected as Mayor of P.S. 87 in NYC.
