Here are the top three stories in Burlington today:

  1. Burlington Mayor Weinberger has announced the release of the City's 2021 Annual Report of the Burlington Police Department. This is the second report focusing on six different areas. The areas include individuals who interacted with the police, incidents/offenses, pedestrian stops, traffic stops, arrests, and uses of force. The report is meant to provide the community with insight into racial disparities. (Vermont Biz)
  2. Vermont Governor Phil Scott has signed a bill that will hopefully make the state's public school funding formula more equitable. The change to the state's funding formula will adjust the cost of educating kids in certain districts due to unique challenges. Rural districts require additional funding for transportation routes and support. (WPTZ)
  3. Departing tenants left discarded items on Burlington city property. Dozens of mattresses, couches, and household items were discarded on city-owned land on Hyde Street. The city reports that it has cost thousands of dollars to pay haulers to remove the discarded items. (WCAX)
