VT Weather: Winter Storm Watch Issued; 6-12” Snow Possible

BURLINGTON, VT β€” A winter storm watch is in effect for the entire state of Vermont as forecasters track a system that could drop up to a foot of fresh snow in some parts of the state.

The watch is in effect Thursday night through Friday evening, according to the National Weather Service office in Burlington. The exact timing of the storm is still uncertain.

According to forecasts, snow is expected to move into the state after midnight Thursday with only minor accumulations expected by daybreak. Snow will likely become steadier Friday as the morning progresses and will continue through the afternoon before gradually tapering off from west to east Friday night.

At one point, snow could fall up to an inch per hour, forecasters said. Motorists can also expect reduced visibilities and difficult travel conditions Friday morning through Friday afternoon.

Forecasters said that the storm could bring anywhere between 6 to 12 inches of new snow to the state.
