VIRGINIA — A Virginia couple has made it their mission to eat at every Texas Roadhouse location in the United States. So far, they have visited 437 restaurants, making a stop in nearly every state, according to reports.

Judy and Mike McNamara's mission began in 2017 after they started traveling following retirement, the couple told WHBF-TV last year. Their goal is to visit all of Texas Roadhouse's 580-plus locations in 49 states.

"The food is like home cooking to us," Judy McNamara told WHBF-TV. "We don’t like fancy cuisine or fine dining. Texas Roadhouse fits the bill of good, country home cooking and is family-oriented."

Now, when planning trips to visit museums and national parks, the Franklin couple checks to see if there is a Texas Roadhouse nearby. They recently returned from a trip where they visited 25 Texas Roadhouse locations, they told NewsNation this month.

"It’s good food,” Mike McNamara told NewsNation. "It’s more like home cooking to us. And as time has gone by, it’s not just the food. It’s also the people who work at the restaurants. They are a very big family of employees."

As of July, the couple has dined at Texas Roadhouse locations in every state but Alaska. Mike McNamara estimated he and his wife eat at about 65 to 70 different locations each year.

As for their favorite items on the menu, the McNamaras prefer the sirloin, herb chicken, pulled pork, pork chops and ribs — always with a side salad.

Texas Roadhouse, known for its hand-cut steaks and made-from-scratch sides, first opened its doors in 1993. The company has nearly 600 locations in the United States as well as 22 restaurants in nine other countries.

A typical Texas Roadhouse serves about 5,000 guests per week.
