ARLINGTON, VA — A woman died in the crash that shut down all of the northbound lanes of I-395 near the Pentagon Tuesday night.

Virginia State Police say a 2008 Nissan Altima was traveling north on I-395 at around 9:51 p.m. when it ran off the left side of the interstate, sideswiped the wall, and then struck an impact attentuator. The driver, 54-year-old Eddy A. Hernandez-Torres of Adelphi, Md., was declared dead after being taken to the hospital.

Arlington County sent an alert Tuesday night indicating the crash had happened in the area of Exit 8B (Washington Boulevard), and that "extended Police and Fire presence expected."
