2 Arrested In Saturday's Homicide East Of Fairfax City: Chief Davis

FAIRFAX, VA — Two suspects were arrested Monday evening in connection with the homicide of man whose body was found Saturday afternoon east of Fairfax City, according to Fairfax County Police Chief Kevin Davis.

"Blunt force trauma murder to include a stabbing," Davis said, Tuesday morning on Fox5 News. "We have two people in custody. We haven't shared that yet with the community."

Officers responded to the 9500 block of Route 29 around 3:04 p.m., on Saturday for the report of a body being found in a wooded area east of Fairfax City. A resident was walking along the Gerry Connolly Cross County Trail on the north side Route 29 when they noticed a man lying on the ground, according to police. The officers found the man with obvious trauma to his body. He was then pronounced dead on the scene.

"We anticipate that they'll be both be charged with the murder of this man sometime later today," Davis told Fox5News anchor Steve Chenevey. "A lot of hard work by our detectives."

Davis described the investigation as a whodunit from the very start, with investigators starting with nothing.

"I'm just really proud of the hard work that our that our folks did to bring some justice to this family, another family that's still breathing, but at least we can hold the people responsible." he said.

Asked whether the crime occurred where the body was found or transported there, Davis confirmed that the trail was where the homicide occurred.

"We think motive was a simple dispute, and it is not gang related," he said, adding that more information will be released later on Tuesday. No information was available about the identities of the two suspects nor the victim.
