Warwick Avenue Reopens; Fairfax City Crews Continue Tree Cleanup

Warwick Avenue in Fairfax reopened traffic early Thursday, after a fallen tree knocked down power lines and blocked the roadway for hours.

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — A day after a fallen tree knocked down power lines and blocked Warwick Avenue in Fairfax City, the street reopened to traffic on Thursday, according to a Fairfax City spokesman.

Fairfax City work crews will remain on Warwick Avenue until Friday, as they continued cleaning up debris and work was completed on the downed power lines. The public is asked to avoid the area if possible.

Dominion Energy crews worked into the early hours to restore power to 190 customers in Fairfax City. As of 7:25 a.m., on Thursday, power was restored to customers in the Fairchester Woods neighborhood.

As of 10 p.m. on Wednesday, 190 Dominion Energy customers were without power due to downed lines caused by a large tree that fell across Warwick Avenue in Fairfax City earlier in the day. (Dominion Energy/GoogleMaps)
