Fairfax College Students Earn Accolades At Their Schools

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — To shine a light on the academic achievements of college students from the Fairfax City area, Patch shares information provided by the students' families and Merit News.

Grace Cotton of Fairfax was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Beta Kappa, the nation's oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society, at Texas A&M University.

Alex Aspiazu of Fairfax was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Beta Kappa, the nation's oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society, at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Jacobi Adderley is a candidate to graduate from Utah State University with a master of aviation science in aviation science. Adderley is eligible to earn a degree from Utah State University and is among the 6,588 students eligible to receive degrees and certificates from USU's statewide campuses or USU Online. The 2022 graduating class includes graduates from summer and fall 2021 and spring 2022 semesters.

Grace Matson, a dance student from Fairfax, was named to the spring 2022 president's list at Belhaven University in Jackson, Mississippi. To be named to the president's list, Belhaven students must take a full course load of 12 semester hours and maintain a 4.0 grade point average.

Srinivas Kavati of Fairfax was named to the spring 2022 president's list at Belhaven University in Jackson, Mississippi. To be named to the president's list, Belhaven students must take a full course load of 12 semester hours and maintain a 4.0 grade point average.

Sara Khan of Fairfax was recently initiated into the Emory University Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa, the National Leadership Honor Society. The society welcomed 578 new initiates from 25 universities during March 2022.

Mushkan Adhikari, Fatmah Alamoudi, Ann LaBarge and Janet Ramos, who are all from Fairfax, were recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines, at Marymount University.

John Dempsey and Alexandria Hevia, who are both from Fairfax, were recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines, at the University of Maryland Global Campus.

Celine Koko, a member of the Colgate University class of 2024, has earned the fall 2021 dean's award with distinction. Koko is a physics major from Fairfax and is a graduate of St Stephens & St Agnes School. To be named to the dean's list with distinction, Colgate students must earn a term grade point average of 3.6 or higher while completing at least three courses.

Mya Parker of Fairfax was one of 50 top students from Abilene Christian University's May 2022 graduating class honored as a University Scholar at an awards ceremony April 28.

Onashish Joshi of Fairfax recently graduated from the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Virginia. Joshi completed their master of science in information technology.

Ishita Raval of Fairfax recently graduated from the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Virginia. Raval completed their master of business administration.

Fairfax students Hari Prasad Mohan, Aastha Gupta, Yaswanth Koduri, Suresh Yarraguntla, and Divya Vani Ambati graduated from Campbellsville University during commencement ceremonies in May.

Allanah Wood of Fairfax was named the recipient of The American Chemical Society Award and The Norton Prize at Hamilton College's annual Class & Charter Day on May 10. The American Chemical Society Awards, which recognize achievement in chemistry, are awarded to students demonstrating excellence in either organic or inorganic chemistry. The Norton Prize is presented to the undergraduate who has demonstrated the greatest capacity for research in chemistry. Wood, a graduate of W.T. Woodson High School, is a senior majoring in chemistry.

Miles Bryan of Fairfax was named to the winter 2022 dean's list at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, New Hampshire. To earn a spot on the dean's list, students must earn a grade point average of 3.500 to 3.699 on 12 credit hours.

Zachary Perry of Fairfax majored in criminal justice and earned a bachelor of science in criminal justice from the School of Applied Sciences at the University of Mississippi.

Elizabeth Powers of Fairfax majored in finance and earned a bachelor of business administration from the School of Business Administration at the University of Mississippi.

Fairfax residents Kaitlyn Hernandez, Heather Schultz, Alexander Juncosa, Binjan Khanal, Silas Bruccoleri, Justin Gerke, Lily Ali, Rebekah Watkins, and Michele Montgomery were named to the winter 2022 president's list at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, New Hampshire. To earn a spot on the dean's list, students must earn a grade point average of 3.700 and above on 12 credit hours.

Maxwell Bailey of Fairfax has been named to the president's honor roll at the University of North Georgia for achieving a 4.0 grade point average during spring 2022.

  • Chance Morrison of Fairfax graduated with a bachelor of arts in business administration.
  • Dustin Green of Fairfax graduated with a master of science in human resource management.

Fairfax residents Brigid Smullen and Cadence Hinnant were named to the dean's list for the spring 2022 semester at Belmont University in Nashville, University. Belmont students are named to the dean's list if they earn a grade point average of 3.5 with no grade below a C, while carrying a minimum course load of 12 hours.

Claire Ketchum of Fairfax was named to the University of Mississippi's spring 2022 dean's honor roll by earning 3.50-3.74 grade point average and completing at least 12 graded hours. Ketchum is majoring in dietetics and nutrition.

Marianna Lipold of Fairfax earned a bachelor of science in nursing during a May commencement ceremony at Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

Carlee Gaboury of Fairfax was nnamed to the spring 2022 dean's list at from Bridgewater College in Bridgewater, Virginia. Gaboury, a member of the class of 2024, is a health and physical education major at Bridgewater. To earn a spot on the dean's list, students must have attained a 3.4 grade point average or better.

Fairfax residents Jason Dwyer and Marianna Lipold were named to the dean's list for the spring 2022 semester at Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

Justine Jonathan of Fairfax graduated from the University of New Hampshire over the weekend of May 20-22 and earned a BS degree in analytical economics.

Fairfax residents Kayleigh Baxter-Gagen and Jack Schiesl are members James Madison University's 2022 Collegiate Wind Competition Team, which place third overall in this year's competition. Baxter-Gagen and Schiesl are both majoring in integrated science and technology.

Michaela Whearty of Fairfax graduated with a bachelor of science in health science occupational therapy from Saint Francis University during the May 7-8, 2022 commencement exercises.

Ashley Shepard of Fairax graduated with a bachelor of arts in psychological science, during commencement ceremonies in May at the University of Vermont in Burlington, Vermont.

Lauren Ollis of Fairfax recently graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor of science in international business from the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina.

Jared Linde of Fairfax earned a bachelor of science in commerce and business administration from The University of Alabama, during its spring commencement ceremonies on May 6-8, 2022.

Neal Devkaran of Fairfax was among the more than 1,850 students who were named to the spring 2022 dean's list at Kutztown University in Kutztown, Pennsylvania. Devkaran was named to the dean's list by having a grade point average of 3.6 or higher.

Fairfax residents Margaret Courtney, William Hollier, and Erika Maaseide were named to the dean's list for the spring 2022 term at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Lehigh students are named to dean's list by having a grade point average of 3.6 or higher while carrying a course load of 12 hours.

Jessica Flanders of Fairfax was named to the dean's list for the spring 2022 semester at South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota. Flanders is a student in SDSU's College of Education and Human Sciences.

Darby Schmidt of Fairfax, who is majoring in music and linguistics, was named to the dean's honor list for spring 2022 semester at Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio. This recognition requires the student to obtain a 3.75 GPA or higher for the semester and carry a minimum of 12 credit hours.
