Fairfax Man, 33, Cited On Weapons Charges By Fairfax City Police

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — A 33-year-old Fairfax man was arrested on weapons charges after he pointed a handgun and threatened someone that he had been arguing with late Thursday night at a local fast food restaurant, according to City of Fairfax Police.

Officers responded around 10:53 p.m. to the McDonald's at 4040 Jermantown Road for the report of weapon brandishing. The person who contacted police said that she had been arguing with a man she knew, when he pointed a handgun at and threatened her, according to police.

Searching the area, police located the suspect, whom they identified as Ibrahim Abdirahman of Fairfax, and arrested him. During the arrest, police found a handgun in the suspect's possession.

After being taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, Abdirahman was charged with possession of a firearm having been a convicted felon and brandishing a firearm. He was then held on a secured bond.

On Nov. 24, 2020, Abdirahman pleaded guilty in Fairfax City General District Court to a charge of misdemeanor assault and battery for an incident that occurred Dec. 18, 2019, according to court documents. He was sentenced to 180 days, which were suspected, and ordered to pay a $150 fine. The balance remains unpaid.

In addition, Abdirahman pleaded "Nolle Prosequi" on Nov. 7, 2014, to a misdemeanor charge of assault in connection with an incident on July 7, 2014.
