Fairfax Parks and Recreation Receives National Accreditation

The largely ceremonial designation was bestowed by the Commission for Accreditation of Parks and Recreation Agencies.

FAIRFAX, VA — If you've ever hesitated to take advantage of the many offerings from the city's Parks and Recreation department because it wasn't nationally recognized by the Commission for Accreditation of Parks and Recreation Agencies, hesitate no longer.

The city announced Wednesday that the department has, in fact, recently received accreditation from CAPRA.

What does that mean? Well, according to the city, it's "a valuable measure of an agency's overall quality of operation, management and service to the community."
