Homicide Victim Found On Cross County Trail Near Fairfax City: Police

A resident found the body of a man police believe to be the victim of a homicide in a wooded area off of Route 29 in Fairfax.

FAIRFAX, VA — On Monday morning, Fairfax County Police detectives were still investigating the circumstances behind the death of a man whose body was found off of Route 29 near the Blake Lane/Pickett Road intersection in Fairfax.

Officers responded to the 9500 block of Route 29 around 3:04 p.m., on Saturday for the report of a body being found in a wooded area east of Fairfax City.

A resident was walking along the Gerry Connolly Cross County Trail on the north side Route 29 when they noticed a man lying on the ground, according to police.

The arriving officers found the man with obvious trauma to his body. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Investigators believe that the man's death was not a random act and are investigating it as a homicide, according to police. They described the victim as a 20-30-year-old Hispanic man. No other information was provided about the victim's identity.
