Our Daily Bread Has a New Name: Britepaths

But its mission remains the same: to help low-income families in the Fairfax County area with essential needs and financial counseling.

Our Daily Bread, the non-profit organization that aids low-income families in the Fairfax County area, has changed its name to Britepaths, effective July 21.

Why the switch?

"Our organization has significantly evolved over the last 32 years, and our Board of Directors and staff felt it was time for a change," Executive Director Lisa Whetzel said in a release. "Our programs and mission remain the same, but we’ve refreshed our name, logo and look to reflect who we are today and what we strive to be in the future.”

Britepaths' self-decribed mission statement is "to provide our Fairfax County area neighbors in need with short-term safety-net services and empower them to work toward long-term self-sufficiency. The organization relies on funding and volunteer support from businesses, individuals, community organizations and faith communities to provide services that: Stabilize Families: supplemental food and financial assistance; Build Resilience: Financial Education, Project BRIDGE and the Naomi Project; andSeasonal Supports: Back to School and Holiday assistance."

Among those on hand for the announcement Thursday at Tysons Corner was Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Chairman Sharon Bulova.
