FAIRFAX CITY, VA — City of Fairfax Police cited 27-year-old Peter Hua with a summons for reckless handling of a firearm in connection with a shooting incident that took place earlier this month.

Officers responded around 12: 26 a.m. on July 15, to the 10000 block of Whitehead Street after a resident reported that a gun had been fired into their home, according to police. The bullet entered the home and passed through two rooms, but no one was injured.

Investigators determined the bullet was discharged from a negligently handled firearm" inside another home.

A charge of "reckless handling of a firearm" is considered a Class 1 misdemeanor, according to The Code of Virginia. Hua faces a possible jail sentence of not more than 12 months and/or up to a $2,500 fine.
