FREDERICKSBURG, VA—Registration has opened for the 2019 Badges for Baseball camp, June 17-21 at Sunshine Ballpark, 120 Wicklow Drive. The free sessions (9 a.m.-12:30 p.m.) are open to kids ages 6-14 who live in the City of Fredericksburg.

Run in conjunction with the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation, the camp introduces kids to baseball as well as a variety of public safety activities. Campers also learn life skills from officers and "friends at the Fredericksburg Fire Department and Fredericksburg Sheriff's Office." Per the Ripken Foundation:

Devised to deter juvenile delinquency, Badges targets America’s most vulnerable youth, including those in low-income families and single-parent homes, children of parents on active military duty, and youth with disabilities.

Transportation also will be provided, and the new bus route includes Kendallwood, Townsend Square, Camden Hills and Wellington Woods Apartments.
