It has been a long five months since the Five 40 Roller Girls (Five 40) hosted roller derby in Fredericksburg, Virginia and this month, roller derby is back!

Saturday, April 18, 2015 Five 40 will host their season home opener at Golden Skate World off of Route 3 in Fredericksburg as they take on Southern Delaware Rollergirls from Sussex County, Del.

This season will be Five 40’s first as a member league of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA), after graduating from their Apprentice Program in December 2014. Five 40 has announced their first All-Star (WFTDA Charter) team of 13 seasoned skaters.

Five 40 wrapped up their 2014 bouting season in Charlottesville, VA with a hard fought bout against the Belmont Bruisers of the Charlottesville Derby Dames. The bout was full of hard hits, smart strategy, and a fast paced pack, which resulted in a very close game, sealing the win for the Bruisers: 162 to 155.

After training hard during the off-season, Five 40 finally kick off their 2015 bouting season on Saturday, April 18, 2015. During the off-season, the team has welcomed eight new skaters and two transfer skaters.

The seasons home opener on April 18, will kick off Five 40’s second full season at Golden Skate World 12220 Five Mile Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22407. In addition to the bout, Five 40 will offer action packed suicide seats and half time fun for kids of all ages.

Doors will open at 6 pm and the bout will start at 7 pm.

Pre-sale tickets are available for Saturday’s battle of the states from your favorite Five 40 derby girl, at Jack Browns Tattoo Revival in Fredericksburg, Virginia for $10 or online at Brown Paper Tickets for $11.34. Cash and credit will be accepted at the door and tickets will be $12. Children age 10 and under are free for entry.

Five 40 bouts are family friendly events and fans of all ages are invited out to cheer their favorite derby girl on. Golden Skate World will also host a Kids Zone for younger fans; entry is $3 per child.
