ALEXANDRIA, VA — "My train has come in to the station finally!" That was the reaction of an Alexandria woman who scored more than $500,000 from a Virginia Lottery jackpot.

Independence Day was a lucky one for Phyllis Pelham, who won $582,983 with a Cash5 ticket. Her winning ticket came from Harris Teeter at 4641 Duke Street in Alexandria.

Pelham matched all five winning numbers — 9-10-12-18-21 — to win the jackpot. The Cash 5 rolling jackpot starts at $200,000. Players who spend an extra dollar for EZ Match, like Pelham, get five randomly-generated numbers and can win up to $500 for each number.

Pelham told the Virginia Lottery she has no immediate plans for the winnings other than taking care of her family.
