Dog Swim Offered For Free In Alexandria This Year

Every year dogs take over the outdoor pools in Alexandria for a day. This year swims are free for your pets.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—The closing of outdoor pools officially seals the end of summer, but it doesn't go out without a bang in Alexandria. The annual dog swims are held at pools after they close to the public, and this year they're free for you and your furry friends.

The dog swims will happen Sept. 14-15 and are split into two groups: one for dogs under 50 pounds and the other for dogs over 50 pounds. The Itty Bitty Doggie Dive is Friday, Sept. 14, from 4 p.m.-7 p.m. at Memorial Pool at Charles Houston Recreation Center, 901 Wythe Street. The Big Dog Day Swim is Saturday, Sept. 15, from 10 a.m.-12:45 p.m. at Old Town Pool, 1609 Cameron Street.

Thanks to sponsor Your Dog's Best Friends, admission is free. Owners must register online here using Itty Bitty Doggie Dive activity number 134390 or Big Dog Day Swim activity number 134391.
