Tree Lighting 2023 Details Announced In Alexandria

The City of Alexandria's tree lighting will include a countdown, visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus and holiday music.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Alexandrians don't have to wait until December to get started with holiday festivities.

The holiday season will kick off with the City of Alexandria's annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 6 p.m. in Market Square, 301 King Street, Alexandria, VA. The tree lighting will happen rain or shine and is free to attend.

Mayor Justin Wilson and the Town Crier will greet guests and will help count down to the lighting. After 7 p.m., there will be a sing-a-long at the tree and visits with families by Santa and Mrs. Claus until 8 p.m.

Visitors are encouraged to use public transit or walk to the event, including the Metro Blue or Yellow Line to the King Street station and the free King Street Trolley that stops at Market Square. Parking is also available in Old Town.

The tree lighting kicks off a season of holiday events in Alexandria. Other November holiday events in Alexandria include the opening of Ice & Lights: The Winter Village at Cameron Run, Old Town Alexandria Cookie Crawl, Plaid Friday: Alexandria’s Small Business Black Friday, Alexandria’s Small Business Saturday and Holiday Markets at Old Town North.
