ALEXANDRIA, VA — Visitors can get a rare look into some of Old Town Alexandria's best homes in a returning tour as part of the 90th annual Historic Garden Week in Virginia.

The Old Town Alexandria homes and gardens tour will be held Saturday, April 15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The walking tour is organized by the Garden Club of Alexandria and The Hunting Creek Garden Club.

"We are thrilled to welcome visitors to our tour in Old Town Alexandria, which highlights gorgeous homes and gardens that have been lovingly restored and updated," said tour co-Chair Barbara Warder in a statement. "We are grateful to the generous homeowners who are opening their homes for the tour – some for the first time ever."

Other places on the tour include properties showcasing Federal and Greek Revival architecture and neighboring frame homes showing life in 18th century Old Town Alexandria. Homes may feature period antiques, original artwork and notable garden features.

Funds have gone to landmarks like George Washington's Mount Vernon, Stratford Hall, and The College of William & Mary.

Other locations around Virginia will host Historic Garden Week tours from April 15 to 22. The full schedule is available at www.vagardenweek.org/tours.

The event will be held rain or shine.
