26-Year-Old Pedestrian Killed In Crash: Police

Authorities believe alcohol was a factor for the pedestrian but not the driver, although speed was being investigated, police said.

GREAT FALLS, VA — A 26-year-old pedestrian from Reston died early Saturday in a crash in Great Falls, according to police.

Officers responded around 3:45 a.m. to Leesburg Pike and Downey Drive, police said, adding the driver initially left the scene but quickly returned.

Detectives determined Giomarie Davila-Ocasio entered the road in the westbound lanes of Leesburg Pike and was struck by a 2016 Ford Explorer, according to police, who said Davila-Ocasio was declared dead at the scene.

Authorities believe alcohol was a factor for Davila-Ocasio but not the driver, police said, adding speed was also being investigated.
