RESTON, VA — Fairfax County planners have approved a major development at the Wiehle-East Metro area nearly 30 months after the developer originally filed plans, according to a report.

The Washington Business Journal reports that New York-based TF Cornerstone has gotten preliminary approval to redevelop a nearly 12-acre site just east of Wiehle Avenue.

The proposal involves the construction of two multifamily buildings with 629 units (one building will rise 29 stories), and a 14-story office building with 26,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space, according to the report. Under the proposal, two existing office buildings constructed in the 1980s would remain.
