Reston Association Seeking Candidates To Fill Vacant Board Seat

RESTON, VA — Following the recent resignation of former Board of Directors President Sarah Selvaraj-Dsouza, the Reston Association is seeking candidates interested in filling the remainder of her term as an at-large member.

After serving approximately three years on the RA Board, including a one-year stint as its president, Selvaraj-Dsouza announced that she was stepping down in order to focus on her family and her advocacy work with Restonstrong.

"I have also recently accepted the role as the Hunter Mill District representative on the County's Affordable Housing Advisory Counsel and a board position on the Faith Alliance for Climate Change - in both positions I will be working directly in areas I'm passionate about - social justice, housing equality and environmental sustainability," she said, in her resignation letter. "I will continue to serve in my committee position on the EAC."

With Selvaraj-Dsouza's resignation, the RA Board put out a call for candidates to serve as an at-large director until the March 2024 election. Interested candidates must submit their application before the filing deadline on Thursday, June 15, at 12 p.m. Late applications will not be considered.

The RA Board will appoint the new at-large member during its June 22 meeting.
