Reston School Calendar For 2024-25: Key Dates To Know

RESTON, VA — Summer is almost over for Reston students. The first day of school in Fairfax County Public Schools is Monday, Aug. 19.

One new update for the school year is that select Fairfax County middle schools will launch a pilot program to use cell phone storage pouches during the school day. School districts will be required to develop cell phone-free policies by Jan. 1, 2025 under an executive order issued by Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin. On Aug. 15, the Virginia Department of Education will draft guidance for school districts to adopt their own policies and procedures on cell phone-free education after receiving community feedback.

In other news, bus schedules are posted for the 2024-2025 school year. Certain immunizations are required for entry into select grades. Families can find other updates by ensuring they are signed up for a newsletter from FCPS or their specific school.

• Nov. 5: Election Day/teacher work day, no school for students
• Nov. 11: Veterans Day holiday
• Nov. 27-29: Thanksgiving break
