2-Year-Old Alone, Stolen Trump Flag, Wallets: Vienna Police Report

VIENNA, VA — Vienna Police responded to a number of notable incidents in the last week, including a 2-year-old found walking alone, stolen wallets and stolen alcohol.

The 2-year-old was found near Cedar Lane School at 101 Cedar Lane SW around 12 a.m. on Aug. 3. A resident had noticed the child walking alone and called police. Officers found the child's mother, who was frantically looking around the parking lot of the apartments in the 200 block of Cedar Lane SE. The mother said the 2-year-old had learned to open the apartment door. She woke overnight to find the child had left the home.

No charges were announced by police. Officers provided safety suggestions to better secure and childproof the home.

A juvenile reported their bicycle was stolen from the Community Center, where they had left it unsecured.

Michaels 311 Maple Avenue, East
August 2 10:30 a.m.
A woman left her purse unattended in the shopping cart while she was shopping at Michaels. When she went to the register she found her wallet was stolen. A short time later, fraudulent charges were attempted on two of her credit cards at CVS at 337 Maple Avenue, East.

August 2 11:30 a.m.
A woman left her purse unattended in her cart at Giant when she was approached by another woman asking for assistance in locating an item. The woman discovered her wallet was stolen when she went to the register.

Between August 2 at 12 p.m. and August 5 at 12 p.m.
A resident reported someone stole a Trump flag that she had attached to a tree in her yard.

On August 5, an employee reported a shoplifting that occurred over the weekend when three teenage males entered the store and stole alcohol.
