Barns At Wolf Trap Concert Season To Bring Performances Indoors: See Schedule

The indoor Barns at Wolf Trap concert venue will kick off in October with performers representing multiple genres.

VIENNA, VA — As the weather turns colder, concerts at Wolf Trap will move from the Filene Center outdoor amphitheater to the more cozy indoor Barns at Wolf Trap venue.

On Thursday, the Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts announced its 2024-2025 Barns at Wolf Trap season that kicks off in October. Performances will represent numerous genres.

"This season includes international artists, Broadway icons, Grammy Award winners, DC’s own local anthem singers, and many more legendary acts. Wolf Trap continues to be committed to bringing a diverse range of artists to our stages that you can’t see anywhere else in the region."

The start of the season in October includes Broadway star Norm Lewis on Oct 18 and 19; country-rock performer Jim Messina on Oct 22; Crosby, Stills & Nash's Graham Nash on Oct 23, 25 and 26; and Grammy and Oscar winner T Bone Burnett on Oct 28 and 29 on his first tour in nearly two decades.

November brings the Broadway sounds of Third Reprise on Nov. 1, folk music sensation Over The Rhine on Nov. 2; indie musician Jess Williamson on Nov 6; vocal pop artists The Doo Wop Project on Nov. 7; Mariachi Herencia de México on Nov. 8; South African sounds of the Abdullah Ibrahim Trio on Nov. 13; the returning Brazilian jazz pianist Eliane Elias on Nov. 21; Newmyer Flyer Presents The Beach Boys’ Pet Sounds and The Beatles’ Revolver on Nov 22 and 23; and DC Anthem Singers Shine with Bob McDonald, Caleb Green, and D.C. Washington on Nov 24.

December is dedicated to holiday shows — the Blind Boys of Alabama’s Christmas Show on Dec. 5 and a WWII Tiki Xmas Canteen by Cherry Poppin’ Daddies on Dec 6. In the new year, highlights include Nashville Emerging Artists Night featuring Randall Fowler, Jimmy Woods, Emily Brooke, Tristan McIntosh, Emily Ortego, and Landon Wall with percussionist Jack Dracht on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1; DoosTrio featuring Kayhan Kalhor, Wu Man, and Sandeep Das on Feb. 6; NPR’s Ari Shapiro with a cabaret night of songs and stories on Feb. 7; the 65th Anniversary Show of The Second City on Feb. 19 to 22; and the island sounds of Masters of Hawaiian Music on Feb 27.

Winter will transition to spring with performances like Todo Tango with the Pan American Symphony Orchestra on March 8; International Guitar Night on March 12 and 13; Irish Masters of the DC Area on March 14 and 15; the 36th Annual Evening of Comedy on March 21 and 22; and Broadway’s favorite Jersey Boy John Lloyd Young on April 23.

In addition to these performances, the Chamber Music at The Barns returns for another season. Artistic Advisor Wu Han is curating the season for her fifth and final time. During her time in the position, Wolf Trap says chamber music audience attendance has grown by 81 percent.

"It has been an honor to curate Chamber Music at The Barns for the past five years and I am very proud of the vibrant community of chamber music enthusiasts we’ve created," said Han in a statement. "Wolf Trap has been a wonderful part of my artistic life that I will cherish forever."

The chamber season opens with young ensemble Viano Quartet with a program featuring Debussy, Dvořák, and up-and-coming local composer Alistair Coleman on Oct. 27. Other highlights include Wolf Trap Opera alumnus and countertenor John Holiday featuring works by Price, Bonds, Robert L. Morris, and more on Jan. 19; Wu Han, David Finkel & Arnaud Sussmann playing piano trios on Feb. 16; concert pianists Alessio Bax & Lucille Chung playing works by Busoni, Poulenc and more on March 2; Schubert’s “Trout” Quintet on March 16; international violin and piano sensations Julia Fischer & Jan Lisiecki on March 26; Mozart, Grieg, Fauré, Prokofiev on April 4 and Tchaikovsky’s Souvenir de Florence on April 25.

Tickets for Barns at Wolf Trap performances are on sale Thursday for Wolf Trap members and will go on sale to the public at 10 a.m. on Aug. 16. See a full calendar of events on Wolf Trap's website.
